Broadening Access (10) Review allocation of farm land to groups – focus on “1 person 1 farm”. Use Municipal commonage – should be included in the IDP. Review support mechanisms to emerging farmers. “Sunset” on being an emerging farmer. Food Security (11) Review VAT on specific food products A consolidated strategy to increase food production must be developed. Food gardens – private entities to sponsor (“Adopt a garden” - AgriBEE?) Focus on household food security. Farmers encouraged to supply land for food gardens (i.e. farm workers). Security of Tenure (3) Advise people on their rights. Skills development (10) Agriculture as a school subject. Specific programmes in business, management & marketing. Learnerships be strengthened.
