2. Goal My goal for the 8 th grade project is to build two baseball bats that I would be able to use.

3. Researching I needed to research the type of bats I wanted. The three main choices: birch, ash and maple.

4. Researching Cont. Ash- softer wood, wood flexes, flakes Maple- doesn’t flake, doesn’t flex, hard wood Birch- flexes more than maple, more durable than ash

8. Planning Measured out bat in increments of 4 inches. Marked each 4 inches with diameter. Me measuring and pointing out increments with diameters.

9. Next Steps Practice on smaller scale version of bat. Start cutting my bat.

11. Conclusion Only problem is with a lathe. On schedule to finish both bats by May.
