6  Draft Thinking  The “specialist” special educators will be in job alike PLCs (e.g. Speech/Path, Autism, etc.)  Two schools of thought for special educators who work primarily in the general education setting  On a grade level or course team  PLC at building with other special educators OR on MSPLC with other special educators  Sit by Level  Review the draft (Protocol – Part 1)  Reach consensus on the best placement for special educators in PLCs (Protocol – Part 2) What is the best placement for special educators in PLCs?

7  What do we want our students to understand?  How will we know if they understand it?  What will we do if they don’t understand?  What will we do if they already understand?  What are the proven “best practices” we can use in the classroom to promote understanding? 16 Rationale for revision “In addition to modifying our plan as we go based on feedback, we may need to revisit our fundamental assumptions about the vision and how best to realize it once we become immersed in the work. So ensure that a reform steering committee or its equivalent is constantly on the lookout for what needs to be changed in the process and direction to suit the aims of the project, mindful of current reality.” Schooling by Design, Wiggins (p.250)
