2. 12 3 Concept A strong THEME concept captures a year’s uniqueness. UNIQUE EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS INSPIRE THEME IDEAS. THE THEME SETS THE TONE FOR THE STORY OF THE YEAR. MANY ELEMENTS CONTRIBUTE TO DEVELOPING A THEME. A GOOD THEME MEETS CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS.

3. 12 3 Concept A theme concept is explained through VERBAL development. A FEW WORDS CAN SET THE TONE FOR THE THEME AND THE STORY OF THE YEAR. THE MAIN SLOGAN SPAWNS SECTION SPIN-OFF PHRASES. COPY GIVES THE DETAILS THAT TIE THE CONCEPT TO THE BOOK’S CONTENT. THE STYLE OF THE COPY SHOULD FIT THE THEME.

PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW THE THEME’S RELEVANCE. TYPOGRAPHY SETS THE MEANING, TONE AND STYLE OF A THEME. GRAPHICS AND COLOR ADD PERSONALITY TO THE THEME.
