LS LOWRY Artist study The student is interested in the figures. This is something that Lowry was famous for. She has explained what she has done.

Artist studies. Choose an artist. (Lowry in this case) Use their work to inspire ideas. Use their work to study techniques. You could copy small sections to learn new techniques. Write about what YOU like about the work. “Include minimal biographical information. Name, dates, art movement are usually enough”. Evaluate any of YOUR work. What went well and what needs improving, show how you are going to make the improvements.

Mind map Theme: Work Rest Play Use pictures and words to plan areas of a theme that you intend to study. Make it look interesting. Consider artists. Consider where you will make observational drawings or take photographs.

Experimenting, Developing ideas and Observational work. The student starts with a simple pen and wash sketch in black and white. Next she makes a similar sketch with colour. She then uses collage.
