Visiting team in spring 2008 revealed incomplete non- instructional program reviews In June 2008, the ACCJC placed LASC on probation with a progress report and midterm report due in spring 2009 with a follow-up visit. The progress report was to address the first 4 recommendations again.
4
History of non-compliance since 1994 (visits in 1994, 2000, and 2006) in regards to program review and integrated planning. LASC was placed on warning in 2000 with 21 recommendations. Visiting team reviewed prior ACCJC letters, self- studies, and reports from 1994.
5
Leadership (starting with President) Focused on actual language of recommendations—no peripheral issues undertaken Sent a team to ACCJC to clarify issues Main issues addressed (examples): Non-Instructional Program Review and Integrated Planning

EXAMPLES: Non-Instructional Program Review (NIPR) Completed annual cycle, implemented changes, and started another cycle in 2009. Integrated Planning & Budgeting Completed college’s Strategic Plan, revised Planning Handbook, and implemented plan that is sustainable.
7
Campus dialogue and consensus (forums and vetting processes) Evidence to back up all assertions Progress report focused on what was completed, rather than expounding on future plans
8
Prepare for comprehensive visit, Spring 2012 Be sure all 7 previous recommendations are fulfilled and reported in Self-Study. Continue campus-wide dialogue Use ACCJC standards as mission statements for campus committees Refine/evaluate strategic planning processes
