3.1 Students will be able to explain why people migrate.

4- I can do all of three AND explain the impact immigrants have on the country they leave and enter. 3- I can explain the 3 push/pull factors AND the characteristics of immigrants.

2- I can name the three types of push/pull factors. 1- I know that sometimes people immigrate.

3.2 Students will be able to discuss historical and contemporary trends of migration and the impact immigration has on the US.

4- I can do all of three AND compare various immigration policies. 3- I can explain global migration patterns as well as historically which immigrants came to the US and the impact on the country they left and the US.

2- I can explain the global pattern of immigration and the impact immigrants have on the US, but not the historical migration into the US. 1- I know that people migrate to countries.

3.3 Students will understand obstacles migrants face leaving a country and entering a country.

4- I can do all of three AND discuss possible solutions to US immigration problems. 3- I can explain immigration policies, including quotas and refugees along with the cultural challenges migrants face entering into another country.

2- I understand countries apply quota laws for immigration and the cultural challenges immigrants face entering another country. 1- I understand that countries have immigration policies.

3.4 Students will understand why people migrate within a country.

4- I can do all of three AND explain migration policies encouraging intra/interregional migration. 3- I can explain intraregional and/or interregional migration in the US, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia, Europe and India AND the impact on the country.
