Warm UP (Pages 5-6) Missionaries – People who travel to a territory or community in order to convert people to their religion. Trappers- People who capture and kill animals, such as beavers, for their fur. Louisiana- The territory at the mouth of the Mississippi that was claimed by France in 1682.

Mercantilism- an economic system in which nations increase their wealth and power by obtaining gold and silver by establishing a favorable balance of trade. Northwest Passage- the route to Asia for goods that many explorers looked for but never found.
