2. Primary Industries
Prepare and process raw material, such as timber, wheat and iron ore, so other companies or consumers can use them
Examples: farms, mining, logging companies

3. Secondary Industries
Manufacturing – turn raw material into products that consumers or other businesses can use
Examples: bakeries, car manufacturers, furniture makers

4. Tertiary Industries
Service industries – do not make or consume goods. Distributor – move goods from the manufacturer to another business or to consumers.
Examples: transportation companies, retailers of food, clothing, health care workers, educators, recreation, banking

5. Quaternary Industries
Pass on information through technology
Examples: communication companies (Internet, cable companies, phone companies)
