England is the origin of the Industrial Revolution By 1800, England’s agricultural practices had improved New crops (potato) led to a dramatic increase in the food supply More people could be fed at a lower cost with less labor The Main Ideas/Notes section will be made up of the body of information that will be used to complete the daily Learning Target. This section should be divided into Main ideas on the left margin and the notes on the right. An example is given. Unit 5 Conditions in ENGLAND A - A New Form of Production Before, people made goods in home (cottage industry) Workers were forced into cities to find jobs (factories) Workers would work on an assembly line (mass-production) Mass production cuts time and price for products (more available and cheaper)

Unit 5 Conditions in ENGLAND D – Demand for products England had a large supply of markets due to colonization Markets provided a ready outlet for manufactured goods Markets (i.e. cotton) increased as populations grew and demand increased
