Grammar Point: Using “will”
USAGE 1. for plans or decisions made at the time of speaking (spontaneous) Q: What would you like to eat? A: I'll have a pizza please. Q: What color shirt do you want? A: I’ll have the red one. 2. to offer/promise to do something A: Oh this suitcase is so heavy! B: I’ll carry your suitcase for you. [offer] A: It’s really cold in here! B: I’ll close the window. [offer] A: I promise I won’t tell anyone that you broke the window. [promise to do sth]

USAGE to talk about: definite personal plans and already made decisions A: What are you doing for New Year’s Eve? [What are your plans? What do you intend to do?] B: I’m going to Times Square in New York. to make predictions based on current knowledge/evidence Look at those dark clouds over there. It’s going to rain.

Grammar Point: BE going to + verb
FORM Statements subject + be + going to + verb We’re going to go to a restaurant for dinner. Yes/No questions be + subject + going to + verb? Are you going to have a big wedding? Information questions question word + be + subject + going to + verb? What are you going to do for your birthday?

Speaking naturally In conversation, going to is usually reduced.
“gonna” sometimes written in song lyrics or online chat or but NOT in formal writing
