Actions Taken and Proposed 1.Repair the circuit track and board walk / bridges 2.Control willows to encourage more favourable indigenous species to colonise the margins (treatment started within southern sector) 3.Replace collapsing manuka stand with more suitable species 4.Ramp up the control of aggressive weeds 5.Complete the application to renew the resource consent to operate the weir on the lake outlet

Actions Proposed 1.Control pest fish – koi, bullhead catfish, rudd and goldfish 2.Control mammalian pests – possums, cats, ferrets, stoats and rats 3.Acquire those areas of private land that are inundated when lake levels rise – approx. 22ha 4.Re-route inflows from Ngaroto-iti to lake outlet 5.Interpret the swamp Pa and other significant features around the lake 6.Improve the Domain – infill / consolidate the low lying area; retain the lake edge in front of the Domain to prevent erosion ; reinstate the boat ramp by the rowing sheds 7.Reduce inflow of nutrients to the lake by assisting landowners to change / modify farm management practises
