1 TIME MANAGEMENT TIPS Realize that time management is a myth. Find out where you're wasting time. Create time management goals. Implement a time management plan.

2 Use time management tools. Prioritize ruthlessly. Establish routines and stick to them as much as possible. Get in the habit of setting time limits for tasks Be sure your systems are organized Don't waste time waiting.

3 Goal Setting Ensure each of your goals follows the SMART concept: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely. Specific- Be as specific about your goal as possible. Example: My specific goal is to save $1000 in 2 months.

4 Measurable - Establish concrete criteria for measuring progress toward the attainment of each goal you set. Example: I’ll measure my progress by saving $125 each week. Attainable - When you identify goals that are most important to you, you begin to figure out ways you can make them come true. Example: I’ll set-up automatic transfers of $125 each week from my checking to my savings account.

5 Realistic - To be realistic, a goal must represent an objective toward which you are both willing and able to work. Example: Realistically, I tend to spend money if it’s in my checking account. Setting up the auto- transfer will keep me from touching my money. Timely – A goal should be grounded within a time frame. Example: I’ll achieve my goal of saving $1000 in 2 months.

6 "To fail to plan is to plan to fail." —Benjamin Franklin A SMART goal explains a behavior using the following components: Specific: A SMART goal identifies a specific action or event that will take place. Measurable: The description of a SMART and the outcome should be quantifiable. Achievable: A SMART goal should be attainable given available resources. Realistic: A SMART goal should require you to stretch some beyond your normal routine and regular abilities, but allow for likely success. Timely: A SMART goal should state the time period in which it will be accomplished.
