3  Multiply normally ignoring the decimals  THEN put the decimal point in the answer(the answer will have as many decimal places as the 2 original numbers combined)  In other words, just count up how many numbers are after the decimal point in both the numbers you are multiplying, then the answer should have that many numbers after the decimal point.

4 Start with your equation. 0.3 x 2.13

5 Count the number of decimal points. Decimals 2.13 2 x 0.3 +1 0639 3

6 Since there are three numbers after the decimal point, you would put the decimal point three places from the right. 2.13 x 0.3 0.639

7  Use division or long division(ignoring the decimals)  After solving put the decimal point in the same spot as the dividend(the number being divided)

8 Start with your equation. 14.8 4

9 Divide the equation normally. 3 7 4 14.8 -12 28 -28 0

10 As you did with multiplication, count up how many numbers are after the decimal point. 3 7 decimals 4 14.8 1 -12 28 -28 0

11 Put the decimal in one space from the left. Your final answer is 3.7. 14.8 4 = 3.7
