Characteristics The Canadian goose is 3 to 15 pounds and 30 to 43 inches. They have a black neck, white under their chin and brownish, gray feathers. Their goslings are brownish, gray and yellow.

Habitat They live in North America in grasslands, tundra, marshes and lakes. They also can be found in fields.

Diet They eat grasses, sedges, grains, and berries. Also, plants, crops, especially corn and wheat.

Behavior They can poop a lot. They fly in a “V” formation in groups. As they fly they call to each other with loud honks. They are strong flyers but they need to stop for a break.

Interesting Facts A Canadian goose may live to be 24 years old. The oldest goose on record lived 42 years.When eating in water they “tip up” reaching underwater and tearing water plants with their heads and their rear ends stick up in the air.
