NERRS Goals 1. Strengthen the protection and management of representative estuarine ecosystems to advance estuarine conservation, research, and education. 2. Centralized Data Management Office The Centralized Data Management Office (CDMO) was established in 1995 in support of the National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) System-wide Monitoring Program (SWMP) which involves 26 sites around the US and Puerto Rico in order to: develop, implement and manage the basic infrastructure and data protocol of the NERR SWMP, and support the assimilation and exchange of data and metadata within the NERRS framework 3 rd Meeting of the GCOOS DMAC Orlando, FLFebruary 2009

CDMO Priorities 1.The advancement of the System-wide Monitoring Program data and information management program 2.To maintain the online data and information server which provides access to data, metadata and derived products associated with all monitoring efforts http://cdmo.baruch.sc.eduhttp://cdmo.baruch.sc.edu 3.To provide technical support services via telephone, e-mail, and individual and group training to NERRS 4.The continuation of the CDMO Data Management Committee annual workshop to provide an additional avenue for the exchange of ideas and information related to database management, technological advances, and other data collection and monitoring program 5.The continuation of the annual Technician Training Workshop series to provide training to NERR technicians working on SWMP initiatives 6.Provide technical support for special NOAA projects and provide information for management and outreach support 3 rd Meeting of the GCOOS DMAC Orlando, FLFebruary 2009

CDMO Data Ingestion and Dissemination Conservatively, the CDMO reviews, archives and disseminates: 13.5 million data points per year for the water quality monitoring program (4 stations collecting 8 parameters every half-hour at 27 NERRS sites) 34.4 million data points per year for the meteorological monitoring program (1 station collecting 25 parameters quarterly, hourly and daily intervals at 27 NERRS sites) 31,104 data points per year for the nutrient monitoring program (4 stations collecting monthly grabs and 1 station collecting monthly diel of 6 parameters at 27 NERRS sites) 3 rd Meeting of the GCOOS DMAC Orlando, FLFebruary 2009

National NERRS IOOS Activities In support of being a component of the national backbone, the NERRS has undertaken several significant efforts: A metadata translation effort.
