Trail of Tears is the name given after the government forced many native American groups to relocate. Some of the groups where Chickasaw, Choctaw, and the Cherokee. 4,000 of 15,000 Cherokee died during this relocation.

The 4,000 Cherokee Indians died for hunger, disease, and fatigue from having to march the long painful trail.

The Trail of Tears Was approximately 1,000 miles long, and the removal of the Native Americans freed up 25million acres of land. This area of land was massive and finally aloud for “white settlement”. It covered 7 different states

Since 1830 Indiana's were either opted for removal for money or forced to relocate. Most of these relocation groups were relocated from places like Tennessee to the west such as Arkansas.

In 1832 after white settlers living next to the Cherokee Indians for over five years President Andrew Jackson took thing into his own hands. Jackson went against the lawsuit the Cherokee filed and the supreme court to have them removed. In total relocation lasted nine years(1831-1840)
