The caste system has been a way of life developed by the Hindu religion & is an element of that religion. Great Britain was able to dominate India because differences in language & religion prevented unity among the people of India.

Early people searching for food were called hunters & gatherers. The Neolithic Revolution was characterized by the change from nomadic herding to settled farming.

The Gupta Empire, during the golden ages was known as an era of artistic & intellectual achievement as well making advances in art, sciences and mathematics. The Mauryan Empire was shaped by the monsoon cycle & Himalayan mountains. Traditional India had a rigid class system.

In India, a major problem that has hindered economic development has been the limit on foreign investment capital. In India, the southern coasts & the northeastern river valleys support the highest concentration of people. The Taj Mahal represents the spread of the Islam religion & culture in India.
