Description/Function
-Drafted in 1938 and amended in 1954 and 1958 -The FFDCA was implemented to regulate pesticide residues on foods in interstate commerce and imports -protects consumer -Designed to prevent excess pollutants from pesticides as well -It also regulates any other additives that may be deemed unsafe to consumers -Requires pesticides to be registered under the EPA’s regulations -

Regulation/Enforcement
-The FFDCA is national and is regulated by the EPA, Environmental Protection Agency, and FDA and includes food products in interstate commerce and imports. -The FDA also helps with regulation as they set maximums for residue levels of unavoidable poisonous substances in food - A safe tolerance is one that causes no harm from exposure
