9. Innovation and design process I decided to place the front of the house facing the West because in my design layout, natural light during the day isn’t as important as the need for it on the East side of the house. On the East side of the house I have an open concept with the kitchen living and dining room as one huge room where there are windows and sliding doors that will keep the huge room light up almost completely naturally until the sun sets to the West.
