2 13 th Amendment  Ended slavery in 1865.  States & National Govt. could no longer allow slavery.

3 Right to Bear Arms  2 nd amendment is most misunderstood.  Said each state could keep militia.  Doesn’t guarantee right to keep & bear arms free from govt. restriction.

4  Each state can limit the right to bear arms. waiting period, license

5 3 rd & 4 th Amendment  To make people “secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects”.  includes guarantee against unreasonable search & seizures. EXCEPT

6  must have a proper warrant obtained with probable cause- reasonable grounds.

7 Automobiles  “ One Clear-Cut Rule” when police lawfully stop a car, they don’t need a warrant to search if they have reason to believe vehicle holds evidence of a crime.

8 The Exclusionary Law  Evidence obtained illegally by police cannot be used against the person.

9 Drug Testing  Can be conducted w/o warrant  Courts uphold laws of random drug testing of students who want to participate in extracurricular activities

10 Wiretapping  needs a court order to wiretap  Info can be used in court only in certain circumstances.  Today, wiretapping regulation on e- mail, pagers and cell phone calls.
