The Emergency Scene What are your responsibilities??? Personal Safety!!!!!!!!!! Gain Access to the Victim Determine any Threats to the Victim’s Life BSI Provide Needed Care for the Victim Assist more Advanced Personnel

The Emergency Scene Approach with CAUTION –Location of the Emergency –Extent of the Emergency –Apparent Scene Dangers –Apparent Number of Ill or Injured Victims –Behavior of the Victim(s) and Bystanders Remember that different scenes require different scene size -up and may present different hazards.

Take Time to Evaluate the Scene Wear Appropriate PPE (BSI) DO NOT attempt to do anything you are not trained to do GET HELP

The Emergency Scene Scenes are dynamic and every changing Be aware of your surroundings Never let your means of egress be blocked Always leave yourself a way out Watch people If a scene becomes hostile LEAVE do not worry about your equipment.

Watch your back!!!!!!! Do I need BSI or PPD? Are there Bystanders I can use? What resources do I need additional ambulances, fire units, police?
