Pinning on pattern Iron the fabric and pattern pieces Find the layout you need to use on the instruction sheet. Fold the fabric as shown in the diagram with right sides together. Arrange the pieces loosely on the cloth first Pin the pieces that go to the fold first, pin along the fold, then the corners and then in between the corners Make sure the pattern pieces are flat and put in the pins at right angles to the edge of the pattern
4
Pinning on pattern……..continued Pin the rest of the pieces on the straight grain of the fabric using the straight grain arrow Pin one end of the arrow Measure from the pinned end of the arrow to the edge of the cloth Move the other end of the arrow until it is the same distance from the edge of the cloth, then pin in place.
5
Cutting out Cut with long even cuts along the fitting line of the pattern When a pattern piece is placed to the fold DO NOT CUT ALONG THE FOLD. Cut outwards at triangles DO NOT REMOVE THE PINS until the markings have been transferred from the pattern onto the cloth.
6
Transferring markings from pattern to fabric. Fold the carbon paper in half with carbon side out Place the carbon paper between the two layers of cloth under the marks you wish to transfer. Put the upper layer of cloth and pattern piece back in place and pin if necessary. Roll the tracing wheel over the mark you wish to transfer. Check to make sure the mark has been transferred properly.
