Citizens had the right and duty to participate in government. Citizens were native born, adult males who had completed military training CITIZENS

Citizens voted directly on issues= direct democracy Unlike in the USA, where we vote for people who vote on issues = indirect democracy VOTING

Citizens would participate in the Assembly, where they would vote on laws. The Assembly voted when to go to war, on laws, and on some elected officials The Assembly often required at least 6,000 citizens to pass a law, although sometimes there were even more than that in attendance! THE ASSEMBLY (ECCLESIA)
