Interim Chancellor Wray has formed a Task Force to study Missouri S&T’s "current state" research capacity report and develop a "future state" recommendations report to expand and elevate S&T's research performance and reputation. Specifically, the charge to the Task Force is: 1.Review the "current state" research capacity report and collect other pertinent data as deemed appropriate. 2.Recommend short- and medium-term actions that can be taken to improve the research performance of and increase the research capacity at S&T. 3.Recommend areas/disciplines in which we must invest, including hiring new faculty and research personnel and recruiting high quality graduate students to enhance the research mission of S&T. Findings by the Task Force should be summarized and presented to Interim Chancellor Wray no later than Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Graduate Studies and Sponsored Programs

Priority registration began October 31 for Spring semester, average 400+ registrations per day. Thank you to the record number of faculty and staff volunteering to interview Chancellor’s Scholarship applicants on December 3. Enrollment Management

Fall recruitment travel is winding down and several major events took place on campus in November – Open House, Fly-in, Expanding Your Horizons (450 junior high girls). Fall 2012 applicant/admit reports look positive. PRO leaders finished “spirit of change” week and will help fire victims. Enrollment Management

International Affairs The International Affairs staff and students went to Pete's Pumpkin Patch for a full cultural experience. International Student Enrollment Is Up 924 international students enrolled as of November 2011 (up from 918 in October). Assisted faculty in hosting: KISR representatives (Kuwait) to discuss research collaboration in the areas of chemical and nuclear engineering. ISTAR representative (India) to discuss collaborative student exchanges in environmental research. Sponsored Students Ms. Carmina Arriola, representative from Aramco Services Company, was on campus to visit with faculty, staff and students. We currently have 31 students sponsored by Aramco (Saudi Arabia). Black & Veatch is meeting with Missouri S&T and Saudi Arabian students in order to develop a plan for recruiting and employing Missouri S&T Saudi Students.
