“Setting the Right Example in 2012” 1 Tim. 4:8-16 (NIV) “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”

“Setting the Right Example in 2012” 1 Tim. 4:8-16 (NIV) “Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

“Setting the Right Example in 2012” Life Application: Pick one of the areas below and set a goal for greater Christ-likeness in that area. Regardless of what Charles Barkley said, people are watching and following your example whether you want them to or not! Speech: “ Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29 Life: “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age…” Titus 2:11-12 Love: “ Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18 Faith: “ And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:5-7 Purity: “…and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.” I Timothy 5:22b
