Rule 10 Umpiring Jurisdiction begins upon arrival within confines of field and ends when umpires have left the field Judgment decisions are final; coach may ask for clarification on conflict with rules UIC may ask for help on “half swing” Use of video is prohibited Right to remove or disqualify is absolute Casts, splints, braces, prostheses may be worn and mobility devices may be used No tobacco Gray slack, navy shirt, or state adopted shirt

Rule 10 Umpiring (UIC) UIC has sole authority to forfeit game Duties include: inspect field, equipment, receive batting order, announce ground rules, designate official scorer, see that each player takes glove to dugout Call “Time” when ball becomes dead, call “Play” and use hand signal to start the game or resume play Eject, disqualify, or restrict to dugout any player, coach or bench personnel when necessary Announce each substitution Call game if conditions become unfit Penalize for rule infractions Make final decision on points not covered by the rules File protests, if permitted

Rule 10 Umpiring (UIC) Keep record of charged offensive and defensive conferences and notify coach of each, all substitutes, courtesy runners and team warnings Prohibit players exhibiting signs of concussion from returning until cleared by MD Correct score keeping errors if before leaving field Order lights turned on Communicate with coaches when decision is reversed

Rule 10 Umpiring (Field Ump) Aid the UIC and make all decisions on the bases, except when covered by UIC Concurrent jurisdiction with UIC in calling time, balks, infield fly, defacement or ball, illegal pitches, caught fly balls, fair / foul when on first base line, ejecting, disqualifying or restricting any coach or player when necessary
