4 Prophet Muhammad Mecca 570 AD Muhammad was born into a poor clan of the ruling class. Made a living as a caravan trader. At 40 Angel Jibreel told Muhammad of his prophet status, God or Allah, and revealed what he needed to recite. More revelations came in the years that followed. Merchants that traveled to Mecca feared Muhammad’s idea of one god. Muhammad moved from Mecca to Yathrib, the journey is known as hijrah, Yathrib becomes known as Medina. In the years that followed many Arabs embraced his teachings, and Islam has spread globally since.
