P RESENT P ROGRESSIVE : F UNCTION Function The present progressive expresses actions that are happening right NOW while the speaker is speaking.

P RESENT P ROGRESSIVE : F ORM Form: Subject + be + (verb +ing) + object or complement Example 1: I am sitting in class right now. Example 2: Yu-Ha is listening to the teacher right now. Example 3: Amal’s brother is studying English right now.

PP: I am sitting in class now. Uses do and does as helping verbs in questions Uses am, is, and are in questions SP: Do you sit in class every day? SP: Are you sitting in class right now? Uses do and does as helping verbs in the negative. Uses am, is and are in negatives. SP: I don’t sit in class every day. PP: I am not sitting in class right now.
