CHANGES TO MINNESOTA FAMILY INVESTMENT PROGRAM (MFIP)  An end to having a county-level cap on the proportion of adults meeting Work Participation Rate requirements who are participating in education and training activities.  Employment counselors are advisors regarding education and its role in an employment plan. They no longer approve or deny education plans.  It expands access to ABE, GED, ESL and postsecondary education for participants receiving cash assistance from the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)  Allows all participants 12 weeks to pursue job search activities, rather than the previously allowable 6 weeks of job search.

FINANCIAL AID COMPLIANCE  Differing understandings across MnSCU institutions of the term secondary education  Financial aid will not be awarded for developmental courses unless they are substantially at the 9th-12th grade level of instruction.  Developmental Courses were Institutionally Reviewed for Eligibility for Federal Financial Aid and MnSCU created lists A and B  www.asa.mnscu.edu/academicprograms/dev_ed_review/index.html
