Having said all this, lets see from a doctors prospective… what does he gets by using a computer for prescrption… Sitting in his clincal… or a point of care … he can actually open the MR and can see all the episodes.. He can go throught the complete MR just by clicking .. The point really is that he does not have to ask the MR department send him the file… or the pt does not have to wait for … to get his MR before the actual consltation happends

Why ERP/HIS? Complaints / Clinical Symptoms Provisional Diagnoses
Investigations Medication Lets first see what is really on the prescription

Why ERP/HIS? (Cont.) Results on Pagers Drug-Lab interaction
Pharmacy can issue / issues register / Purchase Req / PO Lab instruments interfaced & results directly reach the system Medications Pt. sent back to Doctor for alternative or the Pharmacist dispenses the alternative. In a public hospital, where pharmacy is dispensed within the system, the bacis change – in case it is out of stock the doctor alerted / Can prescribe the alternate drug / Pham alternative / Sends back to Dr Taking this forward … pham dispense the medicen Amount come auto / Stocks go down. / Paper goes down Investigations Pt. Gives blood Info goes to Lab I/O writing different color slips Out of Stock

(Rationale, Expected benefits, Motivating factors) Business case development (Justification for rationale, Identification of risks, Mitigation of risks) ERP product, project manager, and implementation partners selection criteria (RFP, Consultants, Project management skills) Initial project plans and communication to the organization (Implementation strategies, Project structure, People issues, Buy-in in the organization)
12
Rationales for adoption
Technology Poor existing systems Incompatibility of the existing information systems Integration of special purpose information systems Poor visibility of information Business process Cost efficiency Adaptability and flexibility of software Improvement in data quality Productivity
13
Rationales for adoption (Cont.)
Strategic Empower customer Networking hospitals Competitive Potential cost savings Improved clinical and financial decision-support systems
14
Critical factors for adoption
Organization factors Hospital size Ownership Partnership with other hospitals Market factors Population size Location Competition Price uncertainty
15
Survey – User needs evaluation
