How 3D models and photos are organized in the database 08.09.2009 ADO-PO meetingTatiana KLIOUTCHNIKOVA

Why we need databases of detector photos and 3D models? 1.Future studies of installation and integration of new parts of detector Example: study of installation of new Inner Detector for the Atlas Upgrade
3
Why we need databases of detector photos and 3D models? 2. Information about free space inside of detector for the integration of additional equipment : electronic boxes, cables, pipes…
4
Why we need databases of detector photos and 3D models? 3. Information about additional material inside detector is requested by physicists to be entered into their programmes for calculations and simulations Example: Sector 9 Z0 services and structures in 3D models.
5
Platform modifications- this passage will not exist Platform modifications - new passage should be created through the voussoir hole – both platforms need modifications on HO and IP sides Why we need databases of detector photos and 3D models? 4. For further modifications Sectors 3, 7 view from IP EES EEL

Presentation of database of Atlas photos 1.Muon community started creation of their database of photos for the inside part of the muon barrel detector (Alexi Gongadze and Claudia Marcelloni took >2100 pictures)
7
Presentation of database of Atlas photos 2. We decided to complete this database with photos of other parts: Calorimeters, Magnets, Small and Big Wheels, services in Barrel and end-cap gaps and also equipment on HS and HO structures (Alexandre Seletskiy and myself took > 900 pictures).

Presentation of database of Atlas photos The idea is to know from photos as much as possible information about the equipment : real routing of pipes and cable trays, free space inside existing trays, position of electronic boxes, racks, platforms, ladders… Quite often this information is not 100% reliable from models and drawings for many reasons.

CERN has chosen the CAD product “CATIA” for mechanical design. It is reinforced by the data management system “SmarTeam”. In 2004-2008 more that 6500 3D models (out of 32 000 accumulated in Euclid) has been converted to Catia editable format. Until 2008 Starting from 2009 Drawings- CDD 3D models – EUCLID (+other CAD systems) Reports - EDMS Catia& SmarTeam engineering DATABASE Presentation of database of Atlas models
