1 Why CASE is for you….

2 “MAASE IS CASE” MAASE shall be recognized as an official subdivision of the International Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) and a unit of the International Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and shall be affiliated with the Michigan Federation of the Council for Exceptional Children.

3 The Council of Administrators of Special Education, Inc. (CASE) is an international professional educational organization that is affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). Members are dedicated to the enhancement of the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of each individual in society. CASE provides leadership and support to members by influencing policies and practices to improve the quality of education. CASE was founded in 1952 and currently boasts over 5000 members throughout the United States, Canada, and other countries ANYONE CAN JOIN CASE—all MAASE members should join CASE

4 Three main organizations – MAASE (local directors) – MAISEA (ISD directors) – SESOM (supervisors at all levels) – Each with its own bylaws, board, dues, awards, and agenda Plus some other organizations: – Mi-CASE – Middle Cities – IHE LOOKING AT OUR HISTORY: PRE-1988

5 Are our agendas really separate? Isn’t there a great deal of overlap across the three main organizations? How could our voice be stronger? BUT SOME BEGAN TO WONDER…

9 Committees became known as projects Projects became open to all interested MAASE members Budgets of affiliate groups unified under MAASE MiCASE and MAASE unified – significant bylaws revisions – support/approval from Michigan CEC and national CASE EARLY 2000’S: CHANGES EVOLVE
