Lecture 4 Connectors RJ 45, RJ 11, BNC & Fiber Cable Connectors
2
RJ45 RJ45. An 8-position/8-contact (8P8C) plug or jack is commonly used to connect computers onto Ethernet-based local area networks (LAN). Two wiring schemes–T568A and T568B–are used to terminate the twisted-pair cable onto the connector interface. The 8 position 8 contact (8P8C) connector is a modular connector commonly used to terminate twisted pair and multi- conductor flat cable.

RJ11 Short for Registered Jack-11, a four- or six- wire connector used primarily to connect telephone equipment in the United States. RJ- 11 connectors are also used to connect some types of local-area networks (LANs), although RJ-45 connectors are more common. RJ11: 6P4C = 6 Position 4 Conductor – used for ADSL, telephone, and modem cables etc.
