2. Pre-Algebra Curriculum Overview Quarter 1: Rational numbers and decimal expansions. Solve linear equations in one variable. Exponents and scientific notation. Quarter 2: Define, evaluate, and compare functions. Understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations. Use functions to model relationships between quantities. Semester 1 Exam: Common Assessment: ALL CCSD Pre-Algebra students.

3. Pre-Algebra Curriculum Overview Quarter 3: Analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations. Investigate patterns of association in bivariate data. Know that there are numbers that are not rational, and approximate them by rational numbers. Quarter 4: Understand and apply the Pythagorean Theorem. Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. Understand congruence and similarity using physical models, transparencies, or geometric software. Semester 2 Exam: Common Assessment: ALL CCSD Pre-Algebra students.
