1 Welcome Key Clubbers!

2 The Key Club Pledge I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

3 REMEMBER! You need AT LEAST 10 physical hours by the end of the semester!! The only way to earn your credit for Key Club volunteer hours and social credits is to volunteer at/attend events offered by our Key Club!

4 It’s October! You know what that means? It’s time to…

5 UNICEF is an international humanitarian organization dedicated to bettering the lives of children across the globe who suffer from malnutrition, lack of clean water, insufficient medical care, and overall don’t have the necessities to live. Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF is a fun and easy way to help provide those needs for children across the world. Look at all you can do! $1 – Clean water for a child for 40 days! $5 – Give food to a malnourished child for 5 days! $10 – Vaccinate 280 children! $100 – Protect 100 kids from malaria! $500 – Provide a water pump to an entire village!

6 1.Check out a UNICEF box after the meeting! 2.Fill that box ¾ of the way full with coins and bills! 3.Once the box is full you can… a. Bring the money back and fill up again b. Return the box and your money You can drop off your money BEFORE EVERYDAY AND AFTER SCHOOL TUESDAY AND THURSDAY ONLY to Mrs. Vanmiddendorp in Room 3006 IF YOU LOOSE YOUR BOX OR FAIL TO RETURN IT BY OCTOBER 31 ST, IT IS A $5 FEE. IF YOU FAIL TO PAY THIS FEE, YOU WILL BE PLACED ON THE FINES AND FEES LIST

8 PUMPKIN SMASH FOR UNICEF Our second annual pumpkin smash will be on Thursday, November 5 th after tutoring time (3:10). We provide the bats. We had a blast last year! We will post a sign up on signupgenius soon based on the amount of pumpkins we will have! Each Pumpkin will be $$$$, donated to UNICEF.

9 ATTENTION: If you sign up for an event, YOU MUST SHOW UP! It reflects negatively on our club AND you! There are lots of people who want to volunteer for events but can’t because they’re full! If you cannot make a volunteer event, DELETE YOUR SIGN UP! There are plenty of people who will take your spot. DELETING YOUR SIGN UP IS BETTER THAN BEING A NO-SHOW!

10 Freshman Representatives This is a serious position that requires a lot of time and commitment compared to other clubs. Applications due by Tuesday, Oct. 20 th ! Interviews start the next week. Please sign up for a slot. We will notify you via email when we have finished the process.

11 Get your Key Club shirt now! Thanks Michelle! The reorder has arrived! Go grab your shirt in the morning or Tuesday and Thursday afternoon in Ms. Garcia’s room 3006!! PLEASE BRING YOUR RECEPIT IT REALLY HELPS THE PROCESS

12 It’s Key Club Week next meeting ! Let’s show the community what Key Club is all about!

13 Show your K in every way—Show people what Key Club is all about! Spread the word by wearing Key Club gear. Kudos to the Key players—Personally thank all the Key Club supporters you know— teachers, advisors and other Key players. Dare to Care—Key Club has three preferred charities—UNICEF, March of Dimes and Children's Miracle Network. Help support these causes. Random Acts of Kindness—A smile goes a long way. Spread happiness throughout your school by doing little random acts of kindness such as leaving cards with inspirational messages on every students locker or just simply holding the door for someone else. Challenge: complete at least one random act of kindness. Connect the Ks—Key Club is the largest high school service organization in the world and is a member of the Kiwanis family. Celebrate the entire family of Kiwanis by getting the whole gang involved.

14 Wear your Key Club Shirt! (instead of wed.) Thank the Kiwanians at their meeting with gifts! Donation Speed Round! How much can we collect for CMN in 60sec? Do at least one act of kindness (surprise sticky notes, thanking the custodians, etc.) Write a letter to our Salyards Builders Club members and cheer them on! A letter from the “Big kids” is great motivation! (bring it to the next meeting!) Show your K in every way Kudos to the Key players Dare to Care Random Acts of Kindness Connect the Ks Our Version!!

15 Lock-In: Surviving Service Date: November 20 th -21 st Time: 9:00pm- 6:00 am (NO DINNER PROVIDED) Theme: Survivor!! What’s planned: service projects, shelter making, movie, prizes, STAYING AWAKE Information: We are making the tickets and will sell them at the next meeting, Nov. 4 th Do you have what it takes?

16 Donation Drives Item Drive We will be collecting old t-shirts for an upcoming service projects. Oversized t- shirts work best. It doesn’t matter if it is a certain color or design, but it HAS TO BE COTTON. 1 Shirt is 1 donation! Participate in Donation opportunities for donation hours (up to 5). Please drop off all donations at meetings or Monday after school in Ms. Garcia’s room 3006

17 Need more donation hours? Coke Tabs! Bring in soda can tabs to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. 1 FULL Ziploc bag = 1 donation hour Walmart Gift Cards! Key Club uses Walmart giftcards throughout the year for various occasions. Every $5 = 1 donation hour Don’t forget to fill up those UNICEF boxes for 1 donation hour !

18 Do you have volunteer hours outside of Key Club? You should work towards… The Presidential Volunteer Service Award! Go to presidentialserviceawards.org and make an account and track your hours throughout the entire calendar year! You can include your Key Club hours as well as any outside hours. We will give you more information as the semester comes to an end!
