Monday Worship Fall Theological Conference 2015

Gather Us In Here in this place new light is streaming, now is the darkness vanished away; see in this space our fears and our dreamings brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken, gather us in, the blind and the lame; call to us now, and we shall awaken, we shall arise at the sound of our name.

We are the young, our lives are a mystery, we are the old who yearn for your face; we have been sung throughout all of history, called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in, the rich and the haughty, gather us in, the proud and the strong; give us a heart, so meek and so lowly, give us the courage to enter the song.

Here we will take the wine and the water, here we will take the bread of new birth, here you shall call your sons and your daughters, call us anew to be salt for the earth.

Give us to drink the wine of compassion, give us to eat the bread that is you; nourish us well, and teach us to fashion lives that are holy and hearts that are true.

Not in the dark of buildings confining, not in some heaven, light years away—here in this place the new light is shining, now is the kingdom, and now is the day.

Gather us in and hold us forever, gather us in and make us your own; gather us in, all peoples together, fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

Thanksgiving for Baptism

L: We give you thanks for the gift of baptism. In our baptism we were buried with Christ in his death; from the waters we were raised to share in the resurrection; we were reborn of the Holy Spirit. Pour out your Holy Spirit, that as we were clothed with Christ through the waters of baptism, we may proclaim…

All: There is no longer Jew or Gentile, no longer slave or free, no longer male or female, for all are one in Christ Jesus

L: Enlighten us with your Spirit, renew our call to ministry, and strengthen us for loving service that we may proclaim and live in Christ’s good news. To the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit be all honor and glory now and forever C: Amen

Jesus Loves Me Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me he who died heaven's gate to open wide. He will wash away my sin, let his little child come in. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me, he will stay close beside me all the way; when at last I come to die, he will take me home on high Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

We Are Called Come! live in the light! Shine with the joy and the love of the Lord! We are called to be light for the kingdom, to live in the freedom of the city of God!

We are called to act with justice. We are called to love tenderly. We are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God.

Come! Open your heart! Show your mercy to all those in fear! We are called to be hope for the hopeless, so all hatred and blindness will be no more!

We are called to act with justice. We are called to love tenderly. We are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God.

Sing! Sing a new song! Sing of that great day when all will be one! God will reign and we'll walk with each other as sisters and brothers united in love!

We are called to act with justice. We are called to love tenderly. We are called to serve one another, to walk humbly with God.

Canticle of the Turning – ELW 723 My soul cries out with a joyful shout that the God of my heart is great, And my spirit sings of the wondrous things that you bring to the ones who wait. You fixed your sight on your servant’s plight, and my weakness you did not spurn, So from east to west shall my name be blest. Could the world be about to turn?

My heart shall sing of the day you bring. Let the fires of your justice burn. Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near, and the world is about to turn!

Though I am small, my God, my all, you work great things in me, And your mercy will last from the depths of the past to the end of the age to be. Your very name puts the proud to shame, and to those who would for you yearn, You will show your might, put the strong to flight, for the world is about to turn.

My heart shall sing of the day you bring. Let the fires of your justice burn. Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near, and the world is about to turn!

From the halls of power to the fortress tower, not a stone will be left on stone. Let the king beware for your justice tears ev'ry tyrant from his throne. The hungry poor shall weep no more, for the food they can never earn; There are tables spread, ev'ry mouth be fed, for the world is about to turn.

My heart shall sing of the day you bring. Let the fires of your justice burn. Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near, and the world is about to turn!

Though the nations rage from age to age, we remember who holds us fast: God's mercy must deliver us from the conqueror's crushing grasp. This saving word that our forebears heard is the promise which holds us bound, 'Til the spear and rod can be crushed by God, who is turning the world around.

My heart shall sing of the day you bring. Let the fires of your justice burn. Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near, and the world is about to turn!

Apostles’ Creed

Sharing of the Peace

Offering Our 2015 Theological Conference offering will be directed toward the new Lutheran Center in Juba.

We are an Offering We lift our voices, we lift our hands, we lift our lives up to you: we are an offering. Lord use our voices, Lord, Use our hands, Lord, use our lives, they are yours: we are an offering.

All that we have, all that we are, all that we hope to be, we give to you, we give to you. We lift our voices, we lift our hands, we lift our lives up to you: we are an offering, we are an offering.

Eat This Bread, Drink This Cup Eat this bread, drink this cup, come to me and never be hungry; Eat this bread, drink this cup, trust in me and you will not thirst.

Come Thou Font of Every Blessing Come, thou Fount of ev'ry blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. While the hope of endless glory fills my heart with joy and love, teach me ever to adore thee; may I still thy goodness prove.

Here I raise my Ebenezer: "Hither by thy help I’ve come"; and I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wand'ring from the fold of God; he, to rescue me from danger, Interposed his precious blood.

Oh, to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be; let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it; prone to leave the God I love. Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it; seal it for thy courts above.

Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ Let us talents and tongues employ, reaching out with a shout of joy. Bread is broken, the wine is poured, Christ is spoken and seen and heard.

Jesus lives again, earth can breathe again, pass the Word around: loaves abound!

Christ is able to make us one, At the table he sets the tone; teaching people to live to bless, love in word and in deed express.

Jesus lives again, earth can breathe again, pass the Word around: loaves abound!

Jesus calls us in, sends us out bearing fruit in a world of doubt, gives us love to tell, bread to share. God (Immanuel) everywhere!

Jesus lives again, earth can breathe again, pass the Word around: loaves abound!

L: Go in peace, share the good news. C: Thanks be to God!
