Lennie = developmentally disabled –Instinctual/innocent/emotional George = father figure –Thinking/rational side of man (together they make a complete person) Candy = old/handicapped/useless Candy’s dog = Candy (old/hand./useless) Crooks = racism/handicapped/old Curley’s wife = possessions/women Carlson = intolerant Slim = respected/link between upper & lower class Aunt Clara hallucination = guilt Rabbit hallucination = fear Rabbits = dream
