MALAYSIA’S TOURISM INDUSTRY Tourism industry is the world’s bigger industry and the faster growing in service industries. Malaysia's tourism sector is one of the 12 National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs), which has been identified as one of the contributing prime sector in Malaysia economy achievement. Malaysia gained about RM 72 billion form nearly 28 million tourist visit to Malaysia in 2014. The involvement of community is playing a very important role in fostering community support for tourism development and may improve its long-term sustainability as a broad basis for tourism development planning.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Community : A social, religious, occupational, or the other group that sharing common interests, and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists. Community involvement : The sense of community plays an important role in fostering community to support the tourism industry. Community involvement in tourism industry can be seen as the capacity of local people to participate in development activities in tourism sector. Community involvement important in achieving sustainable development in tourism industry and it represents significant economic, environmental, and socio cultural.

GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) To strengthen the heritage, arts and culture and towards enhancing national unity based on the National Cultural Policy; To enhance the synergy and cooperation among the tourism and culture industry players towards making Malaysia the preferred tourist and cultural destinations; To strengthen the tourism and culture sectors towards empowering the nation's economy; To promote Malaysia's uniqueness in arts, culture and heritage as the main catalyst for the growth in tourism and culture sectors; To develop knowledgeable, skilled, creative and innovative human capital in tourism and culture sectors

Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) Stimulate and promote tourism to and within Malaysia. Invigorate, develop and market Malaysia internationally and domestically, as a tourist focal point. Coordinate all marketing or promotional activities relating to tourism conducted by any organization, government, or non- governmental agency. Recommend to the minister relevant measures and programmes that stimulate development and promotion of the Malaysian tourism industry and to implement them upon approval.

Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTic) To promote tourism-related activities organized by the ministry and other agencies from both public and private sectors through tourist information counters, tourism websites, printed materials and the electronic board. To plan, implement and manage programmes such as cultural activities and tourism-related events through coordination of exhibitions, shows, briefings and demonstrations for local and foreign tourists. To provide the space and technical assistance for art and culture related programmes.

BENEFITS THAT COMMUNITY GETS IN TOURISM INDUSTRY Employment : Tourism industry offer direct jobs such as tour guide, housekeeping, hotel staff, coach services and restaurant. Increased Spending In The Local Community: Tourist spent the money directly in the economy. Money earned always re-injected into the local economy. Infrastructure & Public Service: The area wouldn’t be able to expand publicly without tourism. The facility of infrastructure like news roads being built, provide more parks and public spaces will improved to attract visitors.

Social Advantage: Can help to build and develop their own community identity. Can be a source of pride for local communities. It may helps to preserve the traditions and culture. Environmental Advantage: Give support to the conservation of the local area. Helps to build a strong reputation for the tourism operator. Opportunities: Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to create new services and products, or facilities.

Impact Of The Community Involvement In Tourism Industry Impact to Economic: Positive Impact The related service industries like food and beverage, accommodation, transportation, recreation and entertainment and other small- sized industries have also received a bang in their growth as a result of the rapid increase in the tourism. Can increase the community’s tax revenue and the tax revenue are getting form transportation tax, business taxes and so on. Negative Impact The price of good and service, cost of living and potential for important labor also going up. Need to pay high fees to the road maintenance and the transportation system due to the increasing of taxes.

Impact to Environmental Positive Impact The high value natural resources are keeping, protecting and preserving form the ecological decline. The historic building and monument also being protected and preserved. The developers and government developed the land become recreation activities and accommodation for the visitors. Negative Impact Pollution (air, water, noise, and visual) and waste occurred. Over develop the lands become a fact to destroy the natural resources like flora and fauna.

Impact to Social & Cultural Positive Impact Can improve the quality life of local community. Can help provide opportunities for community to meet or communicate, learn about the world with the visitors and explore themselves to new things. Negative Impact Illegal activities increased especially in tourist area. Increase of the number of smugglers and buyers of smuggled products. Will change the local community lifestyle.

Impact of Crowding and Congestion Positive Impact Tourism always develop in specific location and all activities will concentrates there, so the local community will take the opportunity to do business at there. The almost forgotten historic building and ground can be renovated to suit the industry. Negative Impact Can influence emotion of somebody.

Impact of Service The service of local shops, restaurants and other commerce operators will be upgraded. The tourist traffic in a community will be affected. The traditional service may be replaced and force out by the new changing. Impact of Community Attitude Will encourage the different country visitor come and stay at Malaysia for a long period. Will influence the hectic community and personal pace of life. Will build up a new building styles to do their business.

Malaysia is a multicultural society. With its multiracial societies and geographical factors with a long coastal area surrounding the country, Malaysia has offered a lot of activities to attract tourists. Community involvement is believed to enhance the tourism development. The tourism industry is important and beneficial or good impact to community as well as to the country as it creates job opportunities to community, encourage the foreign money exchange and etc. CONCLUSION
