Construction Strategy Maximize the amount of IceCube instrumentation that can be safely installed at the South Pole in each austral summer season – Installation should not be limited by the availability of instrumentation – Critical path is the drilling of holes Construction schedule constraints: – South Pole construction season limited to the austral summer and often impacted by weather conditions – Limits on the number of flights to the Pole (cargo space) – Limit on the number of people that can be supported at the pole
