Who we are… York Policy Review! (#YPR) Open access journal Ran by PhD Students at the University of York Founded Autumn 2014 First edition published March 2015 Interested in interdisciplinary research In print and online

Focus of the journal… Broad substantive focus is ‘Social Policy’ Subject rather than a discipline – inherently inter- disciplinary Encompasses a broad range of topics concerned with socio-legal studies, welfare or social services Education, health, housing, employment, environment, crime Structural causes of problems or changes in these areas (such as inequality, gender, poverty, sexuality etc. ‘Methods in Practice’ articles have a broader scope - focus on methodologies in the social sciences

Research Papers 4,000-5,000 words Published in print and online ‘Stand alone’ original research articles detailing research findings

Methods in Practice Articles 1,500 – 2,000 Online-only publication Reflections on methodological problems or conclusions drawn about research methods

Policy Analysis Articles 1,500 words Open only to undergraduates Short comments on social policy issues

How to get involved with YPR… Become a reviewer! We are developing a bank of reviewers from a range of social science disciplines and interests Receive 1-2 papers per year on your specialism Plus guidance & support on our reviewing process from the Editorial Board To apply send a CV and an outline of your research interest’s to review@yorkpolicyreview.co.uk Publish something! Special editions!
