1 Welcome to Yearbook Belwork #1: SW practice writing captions to go along with photos. SW discuss and assign upcoming events. Captions: 1. The Lead In: to capture the reader’s attention and signify what photo the caption refers to. 2. Sentence One: written in present tense; tells the who, what, when, and where. 3. Sentence Two: written in the past, it presents behind the scene facts. 4. Optional: ending with a quote.

2 Bell Work #2: SW discuss the syllabus and release forms to be filed out. SW discuss ideas for our theme and brainstorm some ideas. Our Theme: 2016 and counting List three ideas for spreads in our yearbook. 1. 2. 3.

3 Bellwork #3: SW take a pre-test for Yearbook to identify their prior knowledge. How many times should every student be covered in the yearbook? How will this be possible?

4 Bell Work #4: SW work on term building and coverage activities for the yearbook. SW discuss coverage of events for the week. SW discuss YBA and what they have looked at so far. List the sections of the yearbook. Come up with some creative titles for our sections.

5 No Bell Work SW be introduced to yearbook avenue and get a tour through the website from Helena Hunt. Students will work on practice pages for the yearbook.

6 Bell Work #5: SW discuss page assignments and responsibilities. SW begin developing ideas for their pages they choose and spring pages. You must sell at least 15 or more books this semester. What are some good ways to get the word out to sell more books to all grade levels. List at least three ideas.

7 Bell Work #7: SW discuss important deadlines for the yearbook. SW continue working on their pages for the yearbook. Why are deadlines important to keep and have? What happens if a deadline is not met for yearbook?

8 Bell Work #8: SW discuss events for the week/punch in/out sheets. SW discuss their spring pages and the layout for tomorrow. What are the main elements of a spread. List and define each.

9 Bell Work #9 SW discuss and plan for the week ahead. SW review how to create a good caption. SW discuss spread ideas and coverage of spirit week. Create a caption for the picture I gave you, with a partner. Write it into your bellwork and be prepared to share and discuss it. Remember: 1 Lead in (attention grabber) 2 sentence in present tense (4 Ws) 3 sentence in the past tense Optional quote

10 Bell Work #10: SW creating their spring sports pages. SW using the Jostens software to create their yearbook pages. No Bell Work

11 Bellwork #11: SW work on revisions for another students spring pages. SW provide feeback and give suggested changes. Why is it important to edit drafts and repeat this process at least 2-3 times before the final draft?

12 Bellwork #12: SW apply their revisions to their spring pages. SW discuss story starters and other spread possibilities. How are you going to get the non-buyers, who are in the yearbook more than once, to buy the yearbook? List at least 3 strategies.

13 Bell Work #13: SW finish creating their spring sports pages. SW use the Jostens software to create their yearbook pages. No Bell Work

14 Bell Work #14: SW create stories for their Fall Sports Pages and discuss their ideas with the class. SW receive their team pictures so they can begin finding out names of the players. SW discuss Teacher spreads. What kind of story would capture your Fall Sorts Spreads?

15 Bell Work #15: SW work on their Fall pages with stories and captions. SW discuss their style sheet and stipulations for their pages. Finish Filling out your participation points for this card marking and turn it in.
