First Grade Gymnastic Skills Objectives: PE. 1. MS. 1
First Grade Gymnastic Skills Objectives: PE.1.MS.1.1 Execute recognizable forms of the basic locomotor skills. PE.1.MS.1.3 Create transitions between sequential locomotor skills. What does this mean to you? In this unit you will be learning about gymnastics. You will be learning about balance, body positions, and ways to roll. Your teacher will want to see you use all the rolls listed below in class. They will also want to see you combine those rolls with other Physical Education skills to make a 4 skill gymnastics routine. Rolls: Fireman’s roll - Start in correct push-up position - Lower body to mat and roll over - When back on stomach push body up to push up position again. Egg Roll - Sit in tuck position laying sideways - Body staying in middle of mat while rolling Pencil Roll - Body in layout position on the mat - Hips and Shoulders stay in alignment in a layout position Forward Roll - Start standing up on the mat - Bend down into a tuck position (Hands by feet & knees bent) - Place hands firmly on mat - Tuck chin to chest - Push bottom over head - Make sure shoulder blades are on the mat when starting the roll (Head should not touch mat) - Push to stand up without using hands

First Grade Gymnastic Skills Summary: By the end of this unit your teacher will need to see you use all 4 of the new gymnastic rolls you learner in class.
