Confirmation of Fixtures What can be done Pre Season? Leagues published in June Facility Bookings Rearrangement of fixtures if required When do things need to be confirmed during the season? 7 days for Premier League fixtures 48 hours for all other fixtures Confirmation MUST be in writing Further contact should be made on day of fixture to confirm

Pre Match Issues – Inclement weather If unplayable inform opponents asap Replay within 2 weeks at home venue Offer 2 dates – 1 weekend, 1 weekday (evening start time) Replay date to be agreed within 48 hours Home team to enter new date on BUCS website – Official withdraws before the match Try to source another one If unable, ask if opponents can provide one Are opponents willing to play with one official? Reschedule

Pre Match Issues Continued – Unable to contact opposition Use all details available in Handbook If unable to contact them inform the relevant BUCS SPM – Facility & Transport issues Plan as much as possible in advance Ensure you schedule enough time (guidelines in handbook) Good communication and relationships

Match Day Issues – Away team is delayed Delayed - captain must contact home team to advise of delay BUCS advise teams to wait as long as they and officials can Can agree a shorter match if both sides are happy – If arrive at a match and only one qualified official Accept the one official in writing and play Play Under Protest You cannot Play Under Protest if you know there is only one official before you travel Refuse to play NB: Playing Under Protest gives teams the right to Appeal but use your judgement. Has only having one official actually affected the result?

Match Day Issues Continued – Home Team let down by official on day of match Home team need to prove in writing that official was appointed Agree in writing to play with one official/non qualified official NB: The away team cannot then appeal the result You cannot Play Under Protest on this occasion If away team do not want to play with one official then the match is to be replayed at their venue

Post Match Issues – Non neutral/qualified officials after the match has been completed Affected the result? - firstly contact your opposition and ask them to provide evidence of their qualifications Secondly - contact the BUCS Office if they are unable to do this and start disciplinary proceedings – No match teas provided Home teams do not have to provide teas though it is recommended – Home team has not entered the match result on the website Contact the home team and ask them to do so ASAP

Problems –If there have been problems you need to ascertain the following: The facts Have any regulations been broken? Can I solve the problem myself? Does the BUCS Office need to be involved?

Communication TALK TO YOUR TEAM TALK TO YOUR OPPOSITION GET THE FACTS PROBLEM TALK TO THE BUCS OFFICE

Spirit of the Game Playing fixtures Playing down players Consideration for term dates, exams etc Consequences of withdrawing teams

Summary Problems will happen but there are solvable Know your Handbook Be prepared Do as much as possible in advance of the season Build relationships Communicate…in writing! ENJOY YOUR SEASON!
