Portion vs. Serving Size A serving size is the suggested serving given on a nutrition label for a food A portion is the amount of food you choose to eat It is important to each the right number of servings of healthy foods, while limiting portion sizes of unhealthy foods Visit us at www.fit4kidz.us © 2014 Biometrics Health; All rights reserved.

What Does a Serving Look Like? Here are some examples of what serving sizes look like for each food group: –Grains (5-7 servings/day) 1 slice of bread = a CD case –Vegetables (4-6 servings/day) 1 cup raw vegetables = a baseball –Fruit (3-4 servings/day) ½ cup of fruit = small adult fist –Dairy (3 servings/day) 1-2 ounces of cheese = 3 dominoes –Meat & Beans (5-6 servings/day) 2 tablespoons peanut butter = golf ball 3 ounces of cooked meat = a deck of cards Visit us at www.fit4kidz.us © 2014 Biometrics Health; All rights reserved.

What does a healthy meal look like?
