2 Welcome to St. Peter! Our Easter joy and worship continues this Third Sunday of Easter. Christ is still risen indeed. Life has meaning and purpose because Jesus rose from the dead. As disciples of this living Lord, we are called and empowered by his Spirit to be his witnesses as we proclaim to a dying world the only Name that saves!

14 Alleluia! Jesus Lives CW #153 Verses 1 - 4
Text: Carl B. Garve, Setting: FRED TIL BOD Tune: Ludvig M. Lindeman,

15 Verse 1: Alleluia! Jesus lives! He is now the living one; From the gloomy house of death Forth the conqueror has gone, Bright forerunner to the skies Of his people, yet to rise.

16 Verse 2: Jesus lives! Let all rejoice; Praise him ransomed ones of earth. Praise him in a nobler song, Cherubim of heav'nly birth. Praise the Victor-King, whose sway Sin and death and hell obey.

17 Verse 3: Jesus lives! Why do you weep? Why that sad and frequent sigh? He who died our brother here Lives our brother still on high, Lives forever to bestow Blessings on his Church below.

18 Verse 4 (Please Stand): Jesus lives! And thus, my soul, Life is yours eternally; Joined to him, your living head, Where he is, you too shall be; You with him at his right hand Victor over death shall stand.

19 Opening Verses Pastor: In the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen.

20 Opening Verses Pastor: If Christ has not been raise, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. All: But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.

21 Opening Verses Pastor: If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. All: But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.

22 Opening Verses Pastor: If Christ has not been raised, then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. All: But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.

23 Opening Verses Pastor: Death has been swallowed up victory.
All: Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?

24 Opening Verses Pastor: The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. All: But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

25 Opening Verses Pastor: Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. All: Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

26 Opening Verses Pastor: Yet so often we have not stood firm in our Christian faith; nor have we always given ourselves fully to our calling to be witnesses to a risen Jesus. How soon we let the joy of Easter fade away from our hearts and lives. For these and all our sins, we bow before God and humbly ask his forgiveness.

27 Confession of Sin All: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity.

28 Confession of Sin All: But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

29 (Pastor announces our forgiveness)
All: Amen.

30 Pastor: The works of the Lord are great and glorious; his name is worthy of praise.

31 Glory Be To God All (Sung): All glory be to God on high!
Your name, O Lord, we glorify; We praise you for your peace and grace, Your favor toward our fallen race.

32 Glory Be To God All (Sung): Our grateful thanks to you we bring,
For your great glory, heav’nly King, For all, O Father, you have done Through Jesus Christ, your only Son.

33 Glory Be To God All (Sung): O Lamb of God, to you we pray.
You take all human sin away. Have mercy, Lord; receive our prayer; From God’s right hand, your mercy share.

34 Glory Be To God All (Sung): You, Christ, are holy—Lord alone;
The Father’s glory you made known. We by your Spirit sing again: “All glory be to God!” Amen.

35 (Pastor says the prayer of the day)
Pastor: Let us pray. (Pastor says the prayer of the day) All: Amen.
