MEASLES JAEL KAHRE

What are the measles? The Measles are a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by the measles virus that cause a rash and a verity of other symptoms.

Measles effects the whole body but the rash effects mostly the epidermis

Symptoms of the measles may include Symptoms usually begin 8 - 12 days after you are exposed to the virus, and May last 4 - 7 days Cough Fever Light sensitivity Muscle pain Rash Usually appears 3 - 5 days after the first signs of being sick Usually starts on the head and spreads to other areas, moving down the body Rash may appear Runny nose Sore throat Tiny white spots inside the mouth

Cause of measles The measles are caused by a virus that is spread when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or shares food or drinks. The measles virus can travel through the air meaning that you can get measles if you are near someone who has the virus even if that person doesn't cough or sneeze directly on you.

Treatment for the measles Measles can be prevented by the combination MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine The measles are in most cases treatable but can be deadly to young children and the elderly that develop complications such as pneumonia

Worst case scenario Complications with measles are relatively common, ranging from mild and less serious complications such as diarrhea to more serious ones such as pneumonia, acute encephalitis, and very rarely SSPE—subacute sclerosing panencephalitis), and corneal ulceration (leading to corneal scarring) Complications are usually more severe in adults who catch the virus and can lead to death.

Facts about measles 1)Measles vaccination resulted in a 78% drop in measles deaths between 2000 and 2012 worldwide. 2)The best protection against measles is through immunization with a vaccine called MMR. 3)There is no specific treatment for measles. The treatment includes rest, and plenty of fluids.
