2. Picardie  Mon region est Picardie. Il est place en nord France. La capitale do la region est Amiens. Picardie est plat. C’est belle region.

3. Tourist Attractions  Water sports are popular in this region.  Picardy offers more than 2000km of hiking tracks.  It is home to the famous Asterix amusement park.  There are many gardens and parks to visit in Picardy.  There are also aquariums and zoos for tourists to visit.

4. Geography  Picardy is divided up into three departments. They are Somme, Aisne and Oise.  The capital of Somme is Amiens, which is also the capital of Picardy.  Amiens is only about 111km from Paris.  17% of the region is forest.  Picardy is mostly flat farmland. It’s highest peak is Mont Watigny which is only 285m high.  West Picardy is bordered with a channel of water.

5. History  Picardy is the original French region.  It was home to the Franks during the 5 th century.  There was a lot of trench warfare in Picardy during the first world war.  In 1350 the Valois kings of France made Picardy a military province.

6. Cuisine  Amiens duck paté-a pastry created in the early 1640’s, filled with duck meat and rabbit tenderloin.  Flamiche(leek pie)-a pie filled with chopped leeks, milk or creme fraiche and butter.  Gâteau battu(beaten cake)-it is famous for being made out of a dozen beaten eggs. And it is in the shape of a chefs hat.

7. Culture  The regional language of Picardy is the "Picard".  Some expressions, words and proverbs are still used by the old rural generations.  They have many festivals throughout the year to celebrate history, costumes, local products, music and fireworks.  There have been more the 250 films made showing the beauty of Picardy.
