Started up in 1933. Allowed 3.3 billion dollars to be used for roads and bridges. Gave unemployed Americans jobs.

Create roads and bridges for Americas infrastructure. Give jobs to the overly large population of unemployed Americans.

Any one who needed a job and got hired to make roads and bridges and improve the current infrastructure.

PWA funded the construction of more than 34,000 projects. Includes airports, electricity-generating dams, and aircraft carriers. Seventy percent of the new schools and one third of the hospitals built during that time. It also electrified the Pennsylvania Railroad between New York and Washington, D.C.

This was a great program that gave thousands of Americans jobs during the depression. Though it was a good program it was replaced in 1943.

The Public Works Administration was replaced by the Federal Works Administration in 1943. It was replaced to have the nationwide program run through the government.
