Typical in the beginning Introduces characters and central conflict (conflict is the problem, struggle, or challenge) Series of Events: While the plot advances, the character(s) work to resolve the conflict and complications arise Climax: The most suspenseful part of the story Resolution The last part of the story; all loose ends are tied up

Suspense: A critical element in fiction and drama Anxious curiosity Page turner- makes us wonder, what will happen next?! Foreshadowing Hints or clues about future events
